The SCC was out this weekend on two wheels as usual but this ride was a little different. A few weeks ago Shona, from Scotland, reached out to us wondering about joining us for a road ride. We often get questions about road riding in this area from upcoming visitors but what made this one different was that Shona was also looking for a pilot.
She is training for the Ride the North in the Grampian Highlands of Scotland at the end of August. This ride is 180 miles over 2 days. Shona is raising money for Guide Dogs which is a charity close to her heart as she is visually impaired. She loves cycling and has a tandem bike to help her get out on the road.
Alan Journeau, a long time Director for the SCC, actually owns a tandem bike and offered to lend it out. The SCC also has an experienced pilot – Paul Skinner, Director of Road Riding for the SCC, so out they went on Saturday, 80km along Silver Creek road and back. Good luck in your upcoming ride Shona, we’ll be cheering you on!
