Meet our new president, David Major
First, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to Adrian Bostock for his leadership and valuable input as club president over the last few years. We’re glad you’re staying with us as a director!
David has been on the Board since 2018 but has been working on the SCC’s website, making maps, processing memberships, and handling communications since 2013. He’s a mountain biker at heart and loves all the natural and technical or fast singletracks around the Shuswap. He first started riding trails in the Carmi area in Pentiction, where he grew up, and now his favourite loop is to wind up the Rubberhead climb trail, over to the Ida View trail that wanders through some really nice forest to the top, then down Meatgrinder or Veggie Delight. An amazing loop that has a bit of everything, except crowds!
Dave also tries to use his bike for getting around. One of the things he loves about Salmon Arm is that whether he’s riding to work or running errands, he can always work in a little bit of trail.

2021 AGM Notice!
The SCC is excited to be hosting our 2021 AGM, in person!
November 18, 2021
7pm-9pm
Salmon Arm Recreation Centre, Room 1
2600 10th Ave NE, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 2S4
We will be reviewing the 2020 finances, receiving reports from Directors, and voting on 5 Director at Large positions.
Nominations will be accepted in advance at [email protected], or in person at the meeting.

Go By Bike Fall 2021
Go By Bike BC is happening Sep 27-Oct 10th!
Get ready Shuswap, for the Fall version of Go By Bike BC. This time around we are celebrating cycling for two weeks. Join a team and log your rides to show your support for active transportation and for a chance to once again win some great prizes.
- Get Registered – head over to https://www.gobybikebc.ca and get registered to log your ride –
- Join a team! Teams can be your friends, family, co-workers, class, etc.
- Have some fun and challenge another team.
GoByBikeBC’s grand prize this year is an amazing Cycling Adventure for 2 to France, for a once in a lifetime bike adventure.
The SCC also has some great local giveaways, including Downtown Dollars and your choice of a bike tune, or shock service from Skookum Cycles.
Have your Say on the Lakeshore Road Redesign!
The City of Salmon Arm is inviting comments on improvements of a portion of Lakeshore Road to address some slope stability issues.
They have presented 3 options – two of the three options include a multi-use pathway that will greatly improve the safety of cycling along that portion of Lakeshore Road.

The questionnaire can be submitted online or e-mailed, mailed or dropped off at City Hall using the contact information below.
Written feedback must be received by April 7, 2021 to be included in the public input session. Alternatively feedback can be presented ‘in person’ by virtually attending the evening Council Session on April 12, 2021. If you wish to attend electronically please send your request to [email protected]
Be sure to get your feedback in by April 7th and show your support for active transportation at the April 12th Council Session!
Spring Trail Update
Spring is rounding into form! Even though a lot of riders have been ripping all winter thanks to the stellar grooming, people are excited to put rubber to the trails.
The Rubberhead Trail Network is close to being snow free and we have been out clearing blowdown. There are several maintenance projects which need attention, if you would liketo help out please get in touch.
There are two new trails to complete this summer. Trail days will be organized once the PHO permits us to do so.
The SCC is reminding everyone to be patient and be kind to the trails while dry out. It takes a lot of work to flatten out all the muddy ruts! If you are leaving ruts the thickness of your tires turn back or walk through the section. Ride through puddles, not around.
TrailForks is super helpful this time of year! Fill out a report after your ride so people can keep tabs on how things are shaping up.
Sweet Skills 2021
Sweetskills will be returning to Salmon Arm on Friday JULY 16 for a women’s mountain bike clinic. The SCC will be supporting with shuttles and positive vibes.

2021 Memberships are Now Live!
Zone 4 is now open for all renewals and new memberships! Sign up before April 30 and get entered to win some SWAG. Prizes include tees, pint glasses, gift cards and more.
Biking is more popular than ever and the Shuswap Cycling Club is planning to work even harder in 2021 to meet the demand. Your membership is important to provide funds and lend your voice to the cause. Read on for some of what we are looking to do this year.
We have always been busy at Rubberhead building and maintaining trails. This year we have plans to open a few new lines. Stay tuned, we will share the juicy deets this spring! We are alsohoping to run an enduro at Rubberhead this year, fingers crossed!
We are also going to be hosting another Sweet Skills Clinic for the lady rippers to hone their skills.
The SCC is on the City of Salmon Arm Active Transportation Task Force. The group is headed by Mayor Harrison and Councillor Lavery. Aside from sounding super important, the group is working hard to get secure funds for an active transportation plan.

Groomed Trails at South Canoe!
The SCC is excited to be supporting efforts to groom trails at South Canoe! This is not just great for fat bikers; hikers, snowshoers, trail runners can also enjoy the groomed goodness.
You can help support the effort by joining the SCC, or updating your membership for 2021.
You can make a donation specifically to Trail Grooming through the membership registration process at Zone 4, or separately at GoFundMe.
Donations provide some financial support for the purchase and maintenance of the Snowdog.
We are all excited by this opportunity to try something new for the community! Please be mindful of riding only when the conditions are good. Head over to our Fat Bike Best Practices page for tips on winter riding!
