2022 memberships are open!

Shuswap Cycling Club memberships are valid from Jan 1-Dec 31 annually. Visit Zone 4 to purchase your 2022 membership.

Priced at $25 for an individual or $40 for a family, memberships are a great way to get involved in the biking community, support trail building, grooming and maintenance and help us organize fun events.

We appreciate your support!

Winter grooming update and how to donate

In case you missed it: With generous help from several local organizations, the Shuswap Cycling Club has purchased two Snowdogs to groom a variety of trails in the South Canoe network.

The machines have proved to be very effective at keeping trails well maintained in changing conditions and have helped different user groups enjoy winter in a new way. All grooming is done by volunteers, but to keep the ball rolling (or the groomers grooming), we need your continued support to purchase gas and maintain the equipment. If you’re enjoying the work we’ve been doing so far, please consider donating regularly!

You can donate anytime through to our PayPal account or the Winter Grooming GoFundMe, or on Zone 4 during the member registration process.

Find trail conditions on the STA’s website, on Trailforks or on our Fat Bike Facebook group.

REMINDER: If you choose to ride or walk on groomed trails, please follow these guidelines to prevent ruts and postholes. Help others enjoy the trails as much as you do!

New for 2022:
Exclusive Facebook group for club members

Members now have access to a new Facebook group that we created to keep the conversation going about biking in the Shuswap. Use it to plan group rides and find new riding partners (as restrictions allow), ask for advice about bikes and gear, share your experiences or just get stoked about riding. We’re also hoping this group will help us increase our membership, so tell your friends (and make sure they join the club first)!

City of Salmon Arm Active Transportation Task Force
The Shuswap Cycling Club continues to participate on the City’s Active Transportation Task Force (ATTF).

The group is currently working towards the creation of a Active Transportation Master Plan. The City received a $50k grant that was matched by City funds to help produce the Plan. Watch for updates this spring as the City looks for public engagement.

One of the hot topics these days in Active Transportation these days are E-Bikes. The ATTF will be hearing from Nelson and Saanich reps of the Community Energy Association at it’s Feb 7th meeting, where they will share their experiences and ideas on E-Bike Incentive Programs. Here is a video of a recent presentation they made (download to your desktop first to view).
