Alvin’s Greatest Hits Grand Opening

As a kick off to the Salty Dog Weekend, on Friday May 10th, Skookum Cycle and the Shuswap Cycling Club will be hosting the grand opening of the newest Rubberhead trail, Alvin's Greatest Hits, a blue rated jump trail at the bottom of Alvin Comes Alive. There will be a $10 BBQ hosted by Skookum Cycle and group rides of the Rubberhead network. Meet at 5:30 pm at Skookum or at 6:15 at the Rubberhead parking lot. Salty Dog Race
South Canoe Trails 10th Ave SE and 70th St SE, Salmon Arm, British Columbia, CanadaSalty Race Day: When: Sunday, May 12th, 2019 – 10 am (mandatory racer meeting at 9:30 am) Where: South Canoe Trail System, Salmon Arm, BC. Who: Riders age 3 and up. Whats going on: Jr Salty Pup, for run bikes and kids with 12-16″ wheels, no training wheels please, a mini 30 min Enduro, for ages 3+, 1-ish km course, race fee includes a T-shirt and a fun prize. Salty Pup Enduro, for 20-24″ wheels, 1-ish km course, race fee includes a T-shirt and a fun prize. Jr. 3-Hour Enduro for U15s, 5 km course, teams of 2 only, this is a stepping stone event to the big 6 Hour Enduro for people who are not ready to do the main race, race fee includes a T-shirt. 6 Hour Enduro for everyone else. Enter as a team of 2 or do it solo. By age team categories for men´s, women´s and mixed teams and solo categories, an event for elite to sport racers.

DETAILS The Skookum Junior Group Rides are for young riders (around 6 - 14 years old) of all experience levels. Helmets are mandatory. Due to the hilly geography of Salmon Arm, riders are recommended to have bikes in good working order with gears, front suspension, and good brakes (disc brakes are ideal). Please make sure all riders dress for the conditions (comfortable shorts and jersey, bug spray, rain jacket if it's rainy, etc.) Each week, we will practice bike skills, learn and play games, and ride fun trails together. First week is a short Hill Climb test, followed in the next weeks by an XC race, a team enduro race, then finally a DH! We will be tracking points for each race with a winner crowned in each category at the end of the series. This week we will be seeing who can rip Flying Nun the fastest! Final points for the series will be tallied and glory earned for overall winners in each category.
