Shuswap Cycling Club Partners with Skookum to Run Salty Dog Enduro

Skookum Cycle and Ski and the Shuswap Cycling Club are excited to announce that they have entered into a partnership which will ensure that the Salty Dog 6 Hour Enduro Mountain Bike Race continues for many years to come. This partnership will see the Shuswap Cycling Club transition in to Race Presenter over a three year period.

The Shuswap Cycling Club has hired Kara Leinweber as Race Director for a three year term. Kara brings with her years of event organization experience and is the creator and race director of the Lewiston Ultra running race held along the Larch Hills Traverse each September. Kara will be working with Skookum Cycle and the Shuswap Cycling Club to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.

Here is to many more years of the Salty Dog Enduro.

Skookum Youth Race – DH and Final Results

The final race and final Skookum Youth Ride took place this past Tuesday. 16 kids lined up at the top of Flying Nun and had a rip against the clock. Afterwards they were treated to some burgers, lemonaide and draw prizes courtesy of Skookum.

Congrats to all the kids for a great season, it has been amazing to see the growth over the season and watch everyone get more confident and have more fun on the trails.

Thanks to all the kids for their great attitudes, the coaches for their encouragement and mentorship, and to the parents for keeping the bikes tip-top and helping herd kids.

Here is a link to all the results on Google Drive: Skookum Race Series Results.

Looking forward to next year, until then see you on the trails!

Tandem cycling along Silver Creek

The SCC was out this weekend on two wheels as usual but this ride was a little different. A few weeks ago Shona, from Scotland, reached out to us wondering about joining us for a road ride. We often get questions about road riding in this area from upcoming visitors but what made this one different was that Shona was also looking for a pilot.

She is training for the Ride the North in the Grampian Highlands of Scotland at the end of August. This ride is 180 miles over 2 days. Shona is raising money for Guide Dogs which is a charity close to her heart as she is visually impaired. She loves cycling and has a tandem bike to help her get out on the road.
