It has been a few years the but the kids are still fast! The Skookum Tuesday Youth Ride has been happening this year for the first time since Covid and we’re happy to help. Kids have been riding Tuesdays at South Canoe since April and the turnout has been amazing, upwards of 50 kids some weeks.
Now it’s time to put their skills to the test in the Race Series. 4 races over 4 weeks, points for each race, and winner takes all! Actually there will be a lot of winners, the final night is going to include a BBQ and some excellent draw prizes. See below for updated results!
Overall Results (Final!)
Here are the final results for the 2022 Skookum Youth Race Series. We had a total of 43 kids take part in at least 1 race. Amazing turnout! Thanks to all the coaches for helping with the races and making it such a fun experience for all the kids!

Week 4 – Downhill
This was the final race in the series. Not sure if it was the great weather, the prestige of the DH race, promise of burgers at the end, or all the door prizes, but we had a record turnout of 38 kids. Amazing! Wish we had a photo of them lined up from the start of Flying Nun all the way down to Blizzard Hill, but it was quite a sight!
Here are the full DH Results.

Week 3 – Team Relay
The kids had a lot of fun with this one – the Team Relay. We had a long course and short course and divided the kids into roughly even teams. They took turns riding the loops over 45 minutes like a mini Salty Dog. It was a bit chaotic in the transition zone but that’s the way we like it.

Next week is the grand finale, the F1 of mountain biking, the prestigious DH!
Week 2 – Cross Country
Some fresh rain provided hero dirt for the second race in the TYR Race Series, the Cross County Race! Riders headed out in waves on a different course according to their categories.
There were some technical problems with the timing, so no lap times for this one, but we did capture the final results and the kids received congratulatory cookies so all is good. Amazing effort out there.
Thanks to Mark Mason for capturing all the racers! Have a look at his Google Photo Album.
Week 1 – Hill Climb
Race 1 was the hill climb! Riders lined up interval style at the bottom of the climb trail and launched up to the party pit. 17 riders in all took part in this one, nice!
