Salmon Arm is hosting a 10km family cycle as well as a 32km more advanced cycle both starting and finishing at the Little Mountain Sports Complex – Field of Dreams\, 250 30th Street SE.\, Salmon Arm\, BC. Detailed information about this event and how to register can be found on the Ride Don’t Hide website http://ridedonthide.com/bc/ride/shuswap-revelstoke/ \nOn November 12\, 2011\, Michael Schratter\, a Vancouver teacher and 24 Hours newspaper social columnist\, who lives with bipolar disorder\, completed his solo global journey called Ride Don’t Hide. Michael cycled 40\,000 kilometers across 6 continents and 33 countries to raise awareness about Mental Illness and end the stigma surrounding it. Three years later Michael’s inspiration continues as the Canadian Mental Health Association hosts their annual cycle event in 4 provinces and 19 communities. \nThe event starts at the Field of Dreams with a fun warm-up and a light breakfast. There are various cycling routes: a 10km family-friendly route\, a 32km route\, or a 54km advanced route through the amazing country-side surrounding Gardom Lake. \nFollowing the ride cyclists will be entertained with music and speakers\, and enjoy refreshments. There will be prizes and community booths to create an atmosphere to support health\, wellness and the importance of community.

SUMMARY:Lake 2 Lake Ride for Rwanda
DESCRIPTION:The Lake2Lake is a two-day fully supported bicycle ride stretching over 220km between Kalamalka Lake in Vernon and Eagle Bay on Shuswap Lake (overnighting at Eagle Bay Camp).  It has been organized to raise funds for the work of The Wellspring Foundation in raising the quality of education in Rwandan public schools. \nRiders can participate without fundraising as an individual (early bird registration is $180 until June 16th) or as part of a team of four ($640 per team).  Those who decide to fundraise may be eligible for a free jersey or ride registration.  This year\, volunteers or riders who fund-raise a minimum of $1200 will be entered into a draw for a trip for two to Rwanda. \nWellspring’s Ignite48 initiative currently impacts over 70\,000 children\, their teachers\, parents and wider communities.  It is our pleasure to invite cyclists to join us from near and far as we ride together for this worthy cause. \nFor more information please refer to the website at www.lake2lake.org.

Ride will be 1.5 to 3 hours in length and average 20-25km/hr. Everyone is welcome\, and road bikes are preferred. Please bring a spare tube\, plenty of water\, energy bars\, and clothing for variable weather. \nThe ride on Sunday will still happen\, but I highly recommend joining Herman and Louise Bruns for their annual Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast Ride. See Below. – Jim Maybee \n  \nHi Everyone! \nFather’s Day is coming up in just over a week – time for the 3rd annual Pancake Breakfasts ride. \nFor those of you who haven’t done done this ride before\, the plural of breakfast is not a typo. Meet at our house in Salmon Arm (930-37th Ave SE) at 6:50am.  We head out at 7:00am sharp for the first leg of our ride (25km) out through the Industrial Park and along Deep Creek road for a pancake breakfast at the Hullcar Hall at 8:00am. \nBy 8:45am we’ll be back on our bikes for the next leg of the ride to Putula Park in Mara for our second pancake breakfast. We have to get to Putula Park before they close (at 10:30) so you can choose one of the two route options (click on links below for maps) to get to Mara by 10:15am. The pancake breakfast in Mara is renowned for quality including a gluten free pancake option and the choice of several homemade fresh berry toppings. So it is definitely worth the effort to ride out there. \nAfter a leisurely second breakfast\, we should have enough energy to ride back to Salmon Arm. We have the choice of riding back via Grandview Bench or the somewhat shorter Springbend Road. \nNo need to bring food on this ride obviously but as these pancake breakfasts are fundraisers for community facilities\, a couple of $10 bills would be great. \nLooking forward to Sunday\, June 15th\, 7:00am sharp! \n-Hermann & Louise Bruns \nhbruns@live.ca \n250-833-9552 \n  \n95km route\, total vertical climb 750m \n78km route\, total vertical climb 450m
