DESCRIPTION:First Annual Shuswap Cycling Club Cross Country Race\nThe Shuswap Cycling Club would like to thank all the racers\, volunteer and sponsors who made the first annual SCC XC Race happen. 18 racers took on a the 40km long course and the 25km short course\, riding from South Canoe to Rubberhead and back to South Canoe through Larch Hills. \nThese events do not happen with out Volunteers\, The Shuswap Cycling Clubs would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible. \nWe extend our gratitude to our sponsors and supporters: \n\nBlind Bay Grocer: for supplying the Rubberhead aid station.\nJake Deeble Active Chiropractor for offering taping and massage for all racers.\nDiane Jewell: for Chilli and Bannock for all the racers and volunteers\n\nWe want to thank all the racers\, volunteers\, and sponsors for your invaluable support. Here's to more races and memorable moments ahead! \n-Shuswap Cycling Club \nResults\n \n \n \n———————————– \nSelf-Supportive Event: The event is self-supportive\, meaning that participants are responsible for their own navigation\, well-being\, and equipment throughout the race. There will be some limited route markings\, mostly through the Larch Hills Nordic Trails. You are responsible to be familiar with the route. The Route can be found on Trailforks. \nCourse Marshals: There are no Course Marshals. If you come across a rider in need please STOP to assist. 911 in case of an injury. \nAid Station: The only Aid Station on route will be at the Rubberhead Parking lot. This will have a limited supply of snacks and water. You are responsible to pack the food you need for this route. \nCourse: Participants are expected to understand the route themselves. This implies that there may not be course marshals or route markers\, so cyclists need to be able to navigate the course independently. \n\nThe Long Course will run from South Canoe to Rubbered using the Ida View Section if the Larch Hills Traverse. From the Top of Rubberhead to the Rubberhead Parking Lot\, then Climb back up DD and assorted trails to the top of Hemlock Glide and through the Larch Hills Nordic Trails to South Canoe. See Trailforks Route\nThe Short Course will skip the decent to the Rubberhead Parking Lot\, Once at the top of the Ida View Trail/top of Hemlock Glide\, riders will make their way back to South Canoe through the Larch Hills Nordic Trails. \n\nCategories: Mens and Womens of the long and short courses\, that’s it.  \nTiming: Old school\, we all leave at the same time and try to keep track of when you get back to South Canoe. \nEbikes: Sure\, fill your boots\, but you are not eligible for any category. \nPrizes: A crisp high 5 and bragging rights. \nAfter Party: There will be Chili and Bannock for all participants.  \nAssessment of Ability: Participants are encouraged to assess their own ability to complete the event.  \nSafety Responsibility: Safety is the responsibility of each participant. This includes having the necessary equipment such as maps\, GPS devices\, food and repair kits to ensure their well-being during the race. Your are required to stop and assist any riders in need along the course. \nREGISTRATION OPEN NOW ON ZONE4!\n$50 for SCC Members and $75 for Non-Members.

DESCRIPTION:Rides will run from 5:30pm to 7:00pm Tuesdays at South Canoe starting April 18th.  \nRides are every Tuesday from 5:30-7:00pm (approximately\, sometimes there can be delays due to mechanical issues etc). \nThe season will be April 18-June 27th. We may have a few rides in the summer but will resume again Sept 12-Oct 3 with our popular Youth Race Series. \nRegister at Zone4. The registration is capped at 60 riders. If registration is full and you are interested in joining a wait-list\, email shuswapbike@gmail.com \nFor the first night we will start by checking in riders and helping them connect with their groups. \nThen we will go over some important safety info. We will also have a bike check station and spend the rest of the time doing some fun activities and a short ride! \nAside from the first night\, we will always start by meeting by the gazebo in our groups at 5:30. \nPlease make sure your rider is ready to go each week with the following: \nBike in good working order! \n\nmountain bike that is the appropriate size and suitable for ups and downs\nbrakes that will work on steep hills\ngears that shift smoothly and will be easy enough for steep climbs\ntires with knobby tread to grip on loose trails\nall the bolts are tight and wheels turn smoothly and are not warped\n\nGear that is appropriate for the day’s condition \n\nquality helmet with no dents or cracks\na water water bottle or hydration backpack/hip pack is mandatory\na small pocket snack like a bar or some trail mix\ngloves are recommended\nsofter flexible knee pads are recommended\nclothing appropriate for the weather (we will ride rain or shine!)\nIf the mosi’s bother you can bring some bug spray. But if we keep moving they can’t catch us!
