SUMMARY:MTB Youth Rides
DESCRIPTION:Shuswap Cycling Society Youth Ride Series\nJoin passionate volunteer parent coaches on weekly rides on the trails of South Canoe. Kids will be divided into groups of approximately 6-10 of equal age and ability. Each week there will be a different theme but most of the instruction happens during the ride.  \nRides run from 5:30pm to 7:00pm Tuesdays at South Canoe starting April 16th until June 25. We will have informal smaller group rides in the summer\, and potentially reconvene for a few weeks in September.  \nNEW THIS YEAR: All participants must be members of the Shuswap Cycling Club. \nCosts are $25 per individual or $40 for a family.  \nCheck if you are already a member \nJoin or Renew your membership \nRegistration is capped at 60 riders. If registration is full and you are interested in joining a wait-list\, email shuswapbike@gmail.com. \nPlease make sure your rider is ready to go each week with the following: \nBike in good working order! \n\nmountain bike that is the appropriate size and suitable for ups and downs\nbrakes that will work on steep hills\ngears that shift smoothly and will be easy enough for steep climbs\ntires with knobby tread to grip on loose trails\nall the bolts are tight and wheels turn smoothly and are not warped\n\nGear that is appropriate for the day’s condition \n\nquality helmet with no dents or cracks\na water water bottle or hydration backpack/hip pack is mandatory\na small pocket snack like a bar or some trail mix\ngloves are recommended\nsofter flexible knee pads are recommended\nclothing appropriate for the weather (we will ride rain or shine!)\nIf the mosi’s bother you\, bring some bug spray. But if we keep moving they can’t catch us!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2024 version of the Rubberhead Enduro on June 8th. \nZONE 4 Event Page – RESULTS \nFinal race and course details will be emailed out early in the week of the race.\n\nArrival and Check In –  7:30 – 8:30am\n\n\nParking may be tight\, overflow parking past the main parking lot\, not before it.\nGo to registration to collect your race plate (you can keep) and timing chip (return after race!!)\nMandatory Racer Meeting – 8:50am\n\n\nRace Start\nAll racers start at 9am. \n\nRace Course\nThe race course will be announced Friday before the race in a final racer email. We want to keep it tight to protect the trails and avoid too many shuttle laps. \n\n\n\nFirst Aid and Emergencies\n\nAthletes are expected to ride within their abilities. Shuswap Search and Rescue will be on site providing First Aid. Racers will be credited time spent helping injured riders. \n\n\nRace Day Coordinators \n\nDavid Major 250-515-2975\nAdrian Bostock 250-253-6938\n\n\nTiming / Zone4 Chips\n\n\nSegment starts will be controlled by a starter\, not chips. They must enter your number and start you otherwise you won’t get a time!\nSegment finishes will be captured by the chip at the marked finish area. You can ride right through\, no need to stop or slow down.\n\n\nCourse Crossings\nThere are several crossings. Please follow the guidelines below to ensure everyone’s safety.\n\n\nPlease be aware of course markings for the crossings.\nBefore crossing\, look up trail for descending riders.\nDescending riders have the right-of-way.\n\n\n\nWater and Food on Course:\n\n\nThere will be an aid station on course with first aid\, light food like fruit\, water\, and lots of high fives!\nThank-you to Blind Bay Grocers for once again providing food for the aid station!\n\nShuswap Cycling Club BBQ: \n\nThe SCC has become famous for putting on a mean BBQ! Racers and volunteers will also receive a free mean compliments of our fine chefs.\nThank-you to Askew’s Food for helping out with the BBQ goods!\n\nRace Etiquette: \n\nPlease be respectful of all volunteers and other racers.\nOvertaking a rider should be done respectfully in a safe area. DESCRIPTION:Shuswap Cycling Society Youth Ride Series\nJoin passionate volunteer parent coaches on weekly rides on the trails of South Canoe. Kids will be divided into groups of approximately 6-10 of equal age and ability. Each week there will be a different theme but most of the instruction happens during the ride.  \nRides run from 5:30pm to 7:00pm Tuesdays at South Canoe starting April 16th until June 25. We will have informal smaller group rides in the summer\, and potentially reconvene for a few weeks in September.  \nNEW THIS YEAR: All participants must be members of the Shuswap Cycling Club. \nCosts are $25 per individual or $40 for a family.  \nCheck if you are already a member \nJoin or Renew your membership \nRegistration is capped at 60 riders. If registration is full and you are interested in joining a wait-list\, email shuswapbike@gmail.com. \nPlease make sure your rider is ready to go each week with the following: \nBike in good working order! \n\nmountain bike that is the appropriate size and suitable for ups and downs\nbrakes that will work on steep hills\ngears that shift smoothly and will be easy enough for steep climbs\ntires with knobby tread to grip on loose trails\nall the bolts are tight and wheels turn smoothly and are not warped\n\nGear that is appropriate for the day’s condition \n\nquality helmet with no dents or cracks\na water water bottle or hydration backpack/hip pack is mandatory\na small pocket snack like a bar or some trail mix\ngloves are recommended\nsofter flexible knee pads are recommended\nclothing appropriate for the weather (we will ride rain or shine!)\nIf the mosi’s bother you\, bring some bug spray.
