Rubberhead Updates

It sure has been great to see so many people enjoying the trails this year. More people are enjoying Rubberhead this year than we have ever seen. The trails are in tremendous shape, even after the ridiculous amount of blown down last winter.

In addition to keeping the trails tip-top, the SCC has been approved to build a few more lines at Rubberhead. We are currently in the planning stage of a few projects, hoping to put shovels to dirt this season.

The first is an extension of the Rubberhead downhill another few hundred meters above the current entrance to the next FSR. This will be an extension in the same spirit as the existing trail, natural terrain black diamond.

The second project is to create a link to improve the already amazing Over the Top route from South Canoe to Rubberhead. It will connect Hemlock Glide to Muffin Top. There is some nice open, rocky terrain that will make for a great meandering trail connector to improve this already epic route.

Dirt Lover Pint Glasses Now Available

The SCC has some new merch! We teamed up with the fine people at Custom Creations to make a run of amazing pint glasses. $15 per, email [email protected] if you would like one. All proceeds go back to the SCC.

We’d love to see what dirt you are visiting. Take a selfie with a STA trail marker or show us a beautiful Shuswap view with your Dirt Lover pint glass. Tag us at #BikeShuswap and you could get yourself one of these beauties! And consider topping up your new pint glass with your fave local beer from the Barely Station, or perhaps Crannog Ales. Big virtual fist bump to esteemed SCC member Amanda Racher for the inspiration and ground work to make the beauties.

COVID-19 Update for Rubberhead

While Rubberhead is still covered in the white stuff, we thought we would post an update from Rec Sites and Trails BC regarding access to Rec Sites and Trails, which includes our beloved Rubberhead.

We also encourage Shuswap riders to avoid travelling to ride. It is tempting to look south or to Kamloops and see the clear trails, however this is not a time to travel. We are also seeing many warnings from trail groups in the region about trails that are thawing out, and right now riding on them could be damaging anyhow. Just think how sweet it will all be when this calms down!

The SCC echos the recommendation from RSTBC to exercise more caution than normal when on your bike.

Here is a quick recap from RSTBC:

All Recreation Sites are now Closed
Recreation Trails remain Open (with appropriate social distancing)

* Please read the news bulletin for more information about this or visit

Upcoming Chainsaw Course

RSTBC in partnership with the Shuswap Trails Alliance and Larch Hills Nordics are offering a Chainsaw Safety Course on May 23-24. This training is a requirement for anyone using a chainsaw under a RSTBC Partnership Agreement.

Send us an email if you would like to take the course.

Space in the course is limited and at this time there are just two two spots for SCC members. If there is enough demand however there could be a second course so please let us know if you are interested and we will try to arrange a second course.

Snowy Dog Sunday

First annual Snowy Dog Bike Ride February 16th 10am till 2pm at the South Canoe trails.
Biking is awesome and the weather and local trail conditions have come together to make a ride in the snow a reality. Come out from ten till two and try out the trails and enjoy events and activities in the snow. Even non-fat bikes can access the area and we’ll be based at the party pit. Prefer to snow shoe? Still come out as the conditions are prime for a snowshoe through the trees.
